The Scarpa 4-Quattro GT WMN still stands out for our test team as a great value in an under-rated package for all-mountain and out-the-gate adventuring. It’s badged at a 90-flex but testers say it skis more strongly than that, and at a list price of $699 testers say it’s a bargain, considering the host of features and broad range of applications available to average- and petite-sized skiers.

The GT’s 101mm last is just slightly roomier than the stiffer, 100mm performance model, 4-Quattro SL WMN, and testers were just fine with that, saying that the 4-Quattro GT is still a very snug medium-width fit. The before and after liner molding feel is radically different, and testers recommend that buyers absolutely take advantage of that process, as the highly moldable Intuition Pro Flex GT liner offers a great fit match with true 101mm last forgiveness over the top of the foot, width at the forefoot and length in the toebox that will not be apparent upon initial try-on out of the box. They say until this liner customization is completed, the descending power and uphill capability of the GT isn’t truly tapped.

Testers absolutely love how the GT tours. Its ease of cuff release is a tester-favorite and both the length and quality of stride is unmatched in the freeride boot realm, they claim. They also like the versatility offered by the fully molded GripWalk outsole that opens the doors to a variety of binding and ski compatibility options. The GT is not as light as the SL, given its polyurethane shell and cuff construction but testers felt it was still a more uphill capable boot than most in the category.

That polyurethane construction (with a Pebax tongue) is the key to the GT’s better-than-expected skiing performance. It’s quick edge to edge but damp and stable at speed—and testers reiterate, it’s not a 90-flex. When asked to guess, they gave it a 100-105 rating. Stance-wise, testers thought the cuff was set-up a bit too aggressively forward, though the net fore-aft stance picture is complicated by a broad range of potential binding slope (delta) angles. However, for our team they mentioned that they’d want to engage the available 2-degree adjustment to gain a slightly more upright starting point.
